The 1973 Vanderbilt Cup race

Tragedy was a part of the Bridgehampton experience. During the 1973 Vanderbilt Cup finale, this 911RS tried to pass a competitor on the straightaway, got crossed up and hit the Chevron Bridge abutment. The driver, a promising competitor having the time of his life, later succumbed to his injuries.
